Macey, who earned her judo Orange Belt in October, won her Gold in the - 44kg Year 8/9 category beating some Green Belt girls in a higher grade.
Macey’s Judo journey started approximately four years ago when she joined AS Judo Academy an elite judo club which is run by former British Champion Alan Scott. She began fighting competitively in October 2018 and has already travelled to venues across the South East winning 16 Gold, two Silver and three Bronze Medals.
Following the competition, Macey attended the AS Judo Academy Awards Ceremony and won Best Female 2019 award in a pool of 500 children.
Macey’s next steps will be to continue travelling around the whole of the UK competing in high level competitions to gain experience and learn new techniques. This will help her to achieve her Green Belt within the next two years and thereby qualify for future British competitions.
Macey is showing huge potential in this fantastic sport. Her long term goal is to represent Great Britain in the Olympics.
