Lest we Forget

Misbourne students and staff observed the two-minute silence on Monday 11 November to remember all those who lost their lives defending our freedom. Year 9 student, Murray led the commemorations by playing The Last Post. 

Throughout the previous week, students have attended assemblies about the importance of remembrance and its relevance today.  Following the assemblies, poppies were sold in school to allow students to show their respect.

Remembrance honours those who serve to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life.  We unite across faiths, cultures and backgrounds to remember the sacrifice of the armed forces community in Britain and the Commonwealth as well as their families and the emergency services and innocent civilians who lost their lives.  The first two-minutes silence in Britain was held one hundred years ago on 11 November 1919, one year after the end of World War One at the request of King George V.
